Nyakabuye center has been a hub of coffee for decades. This is where Mr. Mwumvaneza spent many years since his young age collecting semi-washed coffee from local farmers. In 2000 he decided to switch from traditional coffee processing to modern specialty coffee practice. It was not only the quality of the coffee but also the Ubumuntu (Humanity) of the people of Nyakabuye villages that made Mwumvaneza to implant his washing station in this region which was two hours of walking distance from his home.

Nyakabuye washing station works with more than 2000 coffee farmers. Farmers are composed of cooperatives, small groups of farmers (amatsinda), and small farmers.
