We Are Impexcor

Impexcor Coffee was established in 2007 by Innocent Mwumvaneza after a long career in the coffee industry from farming and semi-washed practices to the different modern processes of specialty coffee. Impexcor owns 20 washing stations throughout the provinces of Rwanda. This allows us to have access to all coffee profiles that you can find in the country and several different types of coffee processes.

At Impexcor, coffee quality and the sustainability of the farmer are our main objectives. It is for that reason that we have initiated several initiatives to make our farmers financially stable. Because of our efforts, the well-being of our surrounding communities has improved. Those initiatives are water and electricity programs, as well as educational and agricultural programs for our farmers and their surrounding communities.

After the 1994 Tutsi genocide, there was no hope for the future throughout the country. However, the only option was to live and strive for a better future. Coffee has not only been a source of income, but also a way to heal wounds of genocide for survivors and to promote peaceful coexistence between survivors and perpetrators. It is for that reason Mr. Mwumvaneza decided to switch from the traditional coffee process to specialty coffee. Impexcor employs more than 3,000 people during the harvesting season and 80 employees full time. Impexcor works with thousands of farmers throughout the country and most importantly, we play a big role in the creation of different cooperatives including those of women and youth. This has built trust among the community and created a channel of truth-telling towards unity and reconciliation. We have successful stories to tell, such as those of Turengerekawa and Codekabu in Rusizi district, Koakambu in Ruhango district, and many more.

Our Vision

To become a coffee processor recognized and remunerated for quality and quantity of its coffee, which positively affects the environment and quality of life for people who work there as well as the farmers.

Our Sustainability

The modern usage of sustainability involves three interconnected dimensions: environment, social, and economics. All three dimensions must be supported for any activity to be truly sustainable. If you’re missing one stone among three stone fires, then the pot will fall over. Miss the environmental aspects, and the land and its surroundings suffer. Miss the social, and the people’s quality of life will deteriorate. Miss the economics, and the people cannot make adequate livelihood. That’s why Impexcor tries its best to cover all stages of sustainability.
